A Perfect Summer Day in Maine

There is a family in our ward 

that lives in Virginia and comes to Maine for the summer!

We love them!

Not only does our Primary get a boost when they're here

but they are a 

fun family 

and our kids have so much fun playing together!

With their six and our five it's quite the

  possee!

This is the tale of what started as a simple 

playdate

and turned into and all day adventure.

Filled with the greatest parts of a

summer day in Maine!

The private little beach down the bank 

from their home!

Jack is raking seaweed,

Sai is supervising!

I was coming down with sunblock, floaties, and the like!

Annie and the girls heading out.

Ned and Bubba on their own 

adventure!

Need I say more!

Love it!

What a trooper!

For a five year old he was 

quite proficient with a kayak

He knew exactly what to do and gave Bubba expert directions.

At this point I'm kicking myself for not taking better pictures of the 

beautiful surroundings!!

Oh my goodness!

This beautiful home was located on the most beautiful bay

with lobstermen and sail boats criss crossing in front of it all day long.

There was a gorgeous island across the way

and beautiful rocks and boulders! 

Why didn't I get any of those pictures!!??

Ah well,

Sai experiencing seaweed and water!

He just kept crawling straight in

head first!

And they're off.....

After swimming it was 

lunch time.

While we got lunch ready 

I walked outside and found Jack taking Bubba down the driveway!

Bubba was in heaven!

Terrified, but in heaven!

An afternoon walk.

We headed to the 

General Store

where the kids got to buy candy for a 

nickle!

Took him a bit to get used to this 

backpack!

 Next to the 

General Store

they had this little spot where all these 

fairy houses

had been built!

A Logi favorite!

 Fox found a toy!

A super expensive,

not meant to be ridden on, 

or touched by chubby hands,

toy!

Stopping for a break!

"How we doing back there?"

Better.

 Time for a dip.

I was so proud of Ryan!

Fox found a swing and was doing a pretty good job of holding 

on so I could snap a picture!!

"Ready to go! Come on guys!"

Saying 'good-bye' to the

I thought this was
so precious,

Ryan and Annie

wanted to hold the babies on the way home.

 Even though each baby was about half their size

with Fox and Adair!

Dinner time.

We had zero intention of staying this long,

but one fun adventure kept blending into another.

"Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!"

There was one major adventure that wasn't documented for a couple of reasons!

On the way back from the General Store and pier outing some of the bigger-little kids were getting tired and wanted a ride in the wagon.

With the momma's holding the babies, we let them ride and they really crammed themselves in good.

Annie was pulling the wagon and thought it would be fun to run.

The road started a small decline that turned into a hill and the wagon quickly gained speed.

Poor Annie was running faster and faster, 

but eventually had to jump to the side and ditch the wagon!

It was more pushing her than she was pulling it!

There goes the wagon full of screaming kids!

All fun and games, right?

Until the road turns and there is no one in the wagon at the "wheel"!

They went barreling off the road into a fern covered ditch and smashed into some small bushes and trees! 

No major injuries.

Lots of scrapes and bruises, and cut and bleeding tongues.

Only after we knew everyone was ok was it something we started laughing about!!

It was quite a site.

I didn't realize it until after dinner,

that my camera had been in the wagon and was now lost in the bushes!

Thankfully we found it!

Whew!

A few days later we got the kids together again for 

Sunday dinner.

I have no idea why this is the
only picture?

But I'm really sad about it!
