Pioneer Celebration New England-style

Living on the
'left' coast
and a good number of those years in the actual
Salt Lake Valley,
Pioneer Day
had a different meaning.

This year we got to experience it on the
'right' coast,
with a slightly different
"interpretation"
of the word
CELEBRATION.

More low key, if you will.
But
fun,
non the less.

Handcart rides.

Our ward does, in fact, have it's very own
genuine handcart.

But being that this is
'youth treking season'
a neighboring stake had borrowed ours.
Hence the glorified garden cart.

Ryan and Logan.

Bubba and Fox making room.
(Notice the shirts.)
Loved them.

Two buzzed heads bobb'n along.

They were in
heaven.
Took a few laps to get them out.
Specially Fox.

Something tells me this kid would've had
no problems
trekk'n all the way to the
Salt Lake Valley
in this get-up.

"Wait a minute.....
Did my Mom cut your hair too?"

"Alright, whose next?
Send 'em in."

"I can wait.
I got noth'n but time"

Meanwhile,
in the cultural hall,
a plethera of
Pioneer-esque
games were being played.

We missed Daddy demonstrating
"pull the stick".

Biscuits and honey.
Daddy with his 'troops'.
